Individuals are able to receive psychological services without a referral, however, if you would like to receive rebateable treatment sessions a referral letter and Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) will be required from your referrer i.e. Psychiatrist, GP or Pediatrician to assess your eligibility for the Better Access to Mental Health Scheme.

If you are eligible you will receive 10 initial individual treatment sessions per calendar year subsidised by Medicare. Recently Medicare has announced following the initial 10 sessions individuals may be eligible for a further 10 sessions under an extended MHCP. The full consultation fee of $220* will need to be paid at the end of each session, however, if you are eligible to receive Medicare rebate you will be able to claim your rebate post session by taking your Medicare receipt into your local Medicare office or by claiming over the phone. Medicare rebate per individual session is $88.25. Our fees are well below the recommended fees noted on the APS website.
